For much of my life, I walked the safe and steady path that all “successful women” were expected to follow. Get a big job. Always be helpful. Never be a problem. Be a little sexy but not too sexy.
And always—always—keep those desires at bay. The ones that play out in the bedroom are taboo. The dreams you have in the real world are too risky to try.
When I began exploring and reclaiming my sexuality, the work I was doing to shift these old beliefs was supercharged. I began to remember who I was and felt my inner power.
Sacred Stories by Jessica Leigh was born out of my desire to bring a slice of this empowerment to more people through writing.
More about Me
In my early twenties, I worked as a congressional staffer in Washington, DC which felt fairly reminiscent of college life—serious and studious by day (like a good girl!), partying with my people by night (oh, how I love to belong). Then I fundraised for a nonprofit in New York City and honed my writing skills while inspiring donors to give. I loved being a storyteller and attuning to what excited and motivated people.
After my first daughter was born, I had my fill of NYC and moved to Austin, TX. When my second was born I decided to stay home and soak up those early years. I homeschooled my girls and experienced magic in being involved their education. I also learned that I absolutely did not want to do it forever.
I dreamed up the idea of living in a small, simplified space and wanted to learn about renovating houses, interior design and property management—a decision that was full of risk and uncertainty for me. I left a spacious home to squeeze my family of four into a tiny old bungalow built in 1947. While I can now resurface walls in my sleep, I learned it wasn’t for me and crossed it off my list.
Taking that risk reminded me that I can try new things and experiment in life. I can dream something up, give it a try and see what I discover. It unlocked my ability to think about my own desires—not just everyone else’s—and imagine what’s possible.

As I allowed myself to fantasize about the life I wanted to create, I also began to unleash my erotic mind. There is so much fun to be had in our imaginations that can help us get to know ourselves better. Through Sacred Stories by Jessica Leigh, I’m harnessing my interests in writing, sexuality and psychology to give you a boutique literary experience that is equal parts vulnerable and exciting.
